Bus Transportation - FAQ
The Carbon Valley Academy K-8 Bus Program is designed to provide safe and efficient transportation that meets all of the requirements of the daily instructional program and extra-curricular activities. How do I sign my child up for the Carbon Valley Academy K-8 Bus Service?
Families MUST submit a request for transportation services for EACH school year. We understand that this may be a hassle for you, however we MUST have a current list created EVERY SCHOOL YEAR in order to have correct, updated information. The deadline to submit a request for bus services is Friday, July 28th. Please note that submitting a request is not a guarantee of services. While we will make every effort to serve all eligible students, we cannot guarantee a stop near you until we have received enough information to build out effective routes. How are routes being determined?
In order to serve as many students as possible, stops are being identified based on the goals of safety, efficiency, and distance between stops. Generally, stops will be located at neighborhood parks, in order for the driver to have a wide area to scan for traffic and students. Other criteria are:
Stops will be outside of a 1-mile radius of the school
Generally, a bus stop will be assigned to areas where there are at least 4 students to pick up.
Bus stops are placed at locations that meet defined criteria, including being centrally located and within a reasonable walking distance of the student’s homes.
When will the bus service begin?
Bus service is planned to begin with the start of the school year and is dependent on driver availability. While we are actively screening candidates we’d love for you to reach out if you have any friends or family members interested in being a bus driver for CVA!
When will I know if we will have a bus stop near us?
Requests will be reviewed, and CVA will notify families whether they have services by August 10th and before the start of the bus service. As stops are confirmed, families will receive information about their bus route and a Bus Rider Guide.
What kind of Buses?
Carbon Valley Academy K-8 has purchased two new Saf-T Liner C2 School Buses. Each bus has a seating capacity of 77 passengers.
What will be the Procedures for Riders?
All riders will need to sign a Rider’s Code of Conduct which will outline expected behavior by all riders to ensure mutual respect and safety. More information will be sent in your Bus Rider Confirmation guide.
Are there driver job opportunities?
